GBP Names Melissa Wendt Emerging Leader of the Year

ATLANTA (January 22, 2007) Melissa Wendt, Director of Health Sciences of Hood Marketing Solutions, was named the 2007 Emerging Leader of the Year by the Georgia Biomedical Partnership (GBP).

She was honored at the GBP’s Annual Awards Dinner at the InterContinental Buckhead Hotel. The Emerging Leader of the Year award honors young professionals for outstanding contributions to the success of the GBP’s Emerging Leaders Network (ELN) and the growth of Georgia’s life sciences community. The award winner is selected by a panel of seasoned industry leaders acting as advisors to the ELN.

Mrs. Wendt has eight years of account management experience in medical education and advertising within the healthcare industry. Her experience includes working primarily with biotechnology, diagnostic and pharmaceutical clients in the following therapeutic areas: diabetes management, point-of-care testing, oncology, immunology, cardiology, women’s health, men’s health, home health care, urology, hematology and anti-infectives. Melissa is also a founding member of the ELN and serves as its marketing director. In addition to her service with the GBP, Melissa is also a member of the Southeastern Medical Device Association and Vice President of Membership for the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association.

The ELN is designed to meet the needs of young professionals in all areas of the life sciences. In addition to fostering the growth of tomorrow’s leaders, ELN will provide opportunities for developing industry contacts, mentoring and career enhancement through networking and educational programs.

Hood Marketing Expands Client Base with Projects for Fiderion and TrainingPros

ATLANTA- Hood Marketing Solutions, a full-service advertising agency with a strong specialty in results-driven marketing that builds brand and generates sales, is executing projects for two new clients:  Fiderion and TrainingPros.  Fiderion specializes in retained executive search and strategic management consulting and TrainingPros is a staffing firm concentrating in the areas of instructional design and training development.

Hood Marketing is developing the theme and creating promotional materials to support Fiderion’s annual golf tournament for clients. In addition to a theme, Hood Marketing will create a dimensional invitation, a follow-up HTML reminder, a welcome kit and an information reference book for attending guests.

Opportunity Knocks for Hood Marketing Solutions with Branding Work for Online Nonprofit Jobsite

ATLANTA – Hood Marketing Solutions, a full-service advertising agency with a reputation for results-driven marketing that builds brand and generates sales, has created an integrated campaign to support the re-launch of OpportunityKnocks.org, the nonprofit industry’s leading national online jobsite.

The first step in laying the foundation for the re-launch was the creation of a dynamic messaging platform and graphic identity. From that, Hood Marketing developed a portfolio of corporate and sales materials.

Sales materials included a multi-wave direct mail campaign consisting of postcards and a dimensional piece. These were sent to non-profit executives and hiring directors in seven top U.S. markets – Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. Hood also developed a print ad campaign running in national, industry-specific publications as well as an online and radio campaign.

One of the most popular items in the marketing campaign has been a series of four door hangers similar to hotel’s “do not disturb” signs. The over-sized hangers are printed in Opportunity Knocks signature lime green and have sayings that pertain to job searches. For job seekers, there’s “I’m not surfing, I’m researching my next job on OpportunityKnocks.org.” Employers can retaliate with a hanger that proclaims, “You can be replaced at OpportunityKnocks.org.”

“Hood Marketing was really on target with the positioning and rebranding initiative,” said Karen Beavor, CEO of Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN), which acquired OpportunityKnocks.org in the spring of 2004. “We’re seeing a significant uptick in the site’s visitor traffic and postings since we began the promotional efforts.”

Hood Marketing Solutions Brings Home Bronze Atlanta Marketer of the Year Award

Hood Marketing Solutions Selected for CardioMEMS, Inc. Branding and Product Launch Initiatives

CardioMEMS is a medical device company that uses Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) technology to create devices for the diagnosis and management of serious diseases. 

The EndoSure Wireless AAA Pressure Sensor – an exciting breakthrough in medicine – is the first in a family of Implantable Wireless Pressure Sensors (IWPS). Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) are the so-called "silent killer" of more than 15,000 Americans per year, mostly men over 55. Even after an aneurysm is diagnosed and repaired with a stent-graft, repressurization of the aneurysm sac and possible fatal rupture remain a risk. Patients currently undergo six-month post-op CT scans, and then annual CT scans for life. These tests are expensive, time-consuming and a strain on the patient’s kidneys.

The EndoSure Sensor will be used by physicians intraoperatively to measure pressure within the sac and may ultimately aid in identifying endoleaks during long-term surveillance. The EndoSure Sensor is currently under clinical study and not currently available for sale in the U.S., although approval and release are expected in 2005.

Hood Marketing Solutions Helps Launch Sollage Pain Solutions
